No Outlet

“Chilling and breathtaking.”

“Vulnerable,
heartbreaking,
and absolutely beautiful.”

No Outlet is 86 minutes of coming-of-age storytelling, nostalgic indulgence, and light choreo. Join Mac Cherny on an intimate retelling of the dramatic events leading up to the near-fatal car crash that changed the trajectory of his young life.

In the autobiographical play No Outlet, Mac guides the audience through a young queer experience, examining one of the most traumatic events in his life through an empathetic and unapologetically gay lens. The play focuses on Mac's life between the ages of 16 and 19, exploring themes of mental health, queer acceptance, and domestic violence. While its primary goal is to entertain, it also aims to promote visibility, education, and resources related to these themes. Each production of No Outlet partners with organizations to further its mission of providing education and resources related to these themes. This play underscores the dangers of denying queer youth the freedom to be their truest selves. Previous partners have included Between Friends Chicago and Wellington Counseling Group.
